A Call to remember

We come across a lot of situations in our day-to-day life, but not all are worth a mention. I think this particular incident that happened to me last afternoon is worth a blog. You will understand why ...

Its about 2 in the afternoon, I am done with lunch and off for a walk with my friend. My phone rings... On the other side of the call is a credit card employee.

Credit Card Employee (CCE) : Hello, Madam, Good afternoon.
Me: Hello, yes.
CCE: I am calling from (Beep) bank and we are having good credit card offers for (Beep) employees. Are you full time employee of (Beep) company?
Me: Yes I am.

I was in the middle of very interesting conversation with my friend before the call arrived and she is about to start off the credit card details. I wanted to apply for card but at point of time I was in no mood to listen to all the details that she was going to give. so I said.

Me: Call you please call me after an hour or so. I am in the middle of something. Yes, I am very interested in buying a credit card and I would love to buy one.

CCE: Sure ma'am. I will call you in 1 hour. That's great that you wanted to take our bank credit card. You just have to give us photo and your payslip. Our bank employee will be in your office in 1 hour, immediately after we discuss the kind of card you want to apply!

Me: Ok, sure. Thanks.

CCE: Thank you ma'am, I will call you in 1 hour

At 3 PM. The phone again rings..

CCE: Hello Ma'am, this from the credit card company. I had called you an hour back. Remember?

Me: Yes of-course. Could you give me the details please?

CCE: Before that ma'am, could you please tell me how long have you been with (Beep) company?

Me: 3 years now

CCE: Are you a permanent Employee?

Me: Yes.

CCE: What's you package ma'am?

Me: (Beep)

Then there was 2 sec silence on the other hand....

CCE: Err.. Ma'am.. There is no credit card that suit your needs. Thank you for dealing with (Beep) bank. Thank you for you time. Have a nice day. Bye.

Me: @@!!@!@?!@!@????

And the phone goes blank....

God.! I could not stop laughing after recalling the conversation again and again. For all those who are cribbing about their pay, have a hearty laugh reading this conversation. You know you are not even worth a Credit Card!

Haha. Signing Off.. :)

Men, Are they complex creatures? Women, simple ones?

From time immemorial, people have wondered, argued about this topic - man & woman. Woman have always wondered what goes on in a man's mind and a Man always wonders what does a woman want?

Frankly, I am no expert to explain why or what each of the sex feels/wants. I just feel its fun to put forward what I think supposedly goes on in a man's mind or what a woman wants, who I think is simple and who is complex.

Lets begin with the so called - MAN.
They are tall, dark and handsome ones, fairly build, muscular ones and others. What goes on in this species mind? Hmm...
Cars? Sports? Money? Sex? Woman? May be few or may be more. I think the thoughts basically revolve round these. What he wants? All that he thinks. Seriously worries about future (of-course after a certain age ;)) yet acts lousy and juggle head. Loves to hang around with its own kind a lot. Loves to speculate a lot about the other species a lot - called Woman.

Let me tell you a very funny conversation my friend and her boy friend had...

Phone Rings...
Friend (SHE Thinks..): Its in the middle of the night. Why is He calling me now? What happened to him? Is he not well? Did he meet with an accident or something?
HE (In a very serious & panicky tone): Hey hun, I am so worried. Don't know what to do. I feel so numb.
SHE (Same panicky too): Whats wrong dear? What happened?
HE: My laptop broke. I dont know what to do!
SHE: !!!!@@!!

Haha.. Look at this incident. See what worries the most for a Woman and that for a Man.

On the other hand - WOMAN
The name so obvious, someone who WOOS a MAN with her charm, beauty and appeal. What goes on her mind? Way too complex things. I can't even write them down. Right from why my hair looks so bad to why am I so fat, does he love me? Will he leave me ?(Even when things are going seriously fine!!). I mean anything and everything. What do we want? I seriously! .. seriously!.. have no clue. Worries about anything and everything around. Yet brings love and peace around the place she goes. There are many more qualities which are obvious.

Putting all these qualities in a nut shell - I personally think Men are very simple creatures with simple thoughts and simple actions. Women on the other hand are very complex creatures with very complex thoughts. I would say people with simple analytical skill cannot really understand complex equations.. ;)

Television, Entertainment box or Idiot box?

My days at office seem really long these days. I have no other reason but must say work!

On one such day, I feel like sitting before the television, watch something nice to relax my body and mind.

Today I switched on to some local channel looking for some entertainment. The scene in the channel was a mother beating her 2 year child back and blue just to prove her point to her husband. Irritated by this, switched to the next channel, a lady wanted to get back another lady (actually a cop) who brought about justice.

This kept me thinking. Almost every Indian channel today has shows based on this concept – revenge, hatred, domestic violence, survival of the fittest. In today’s life we have enough and more things to worry about than to think what is gonna happen in the show next – whose gonna kill whom, whose gone die etc. The thing which was built on mere entertainment has become one of the worries in day to day life. The thing that should educate a child is also enlightening them about wrong things. Homemakers sit before it and forget the world around them.

It amusing to see how these kinds of shows have touched homemakers around the country. Women sit before the TV and cry for a character died in the show. They discuss what would happen next to the character in tea parties. They adore the ideal daughter-in-law character and call her the Bhahu. They hate somebody coz she killed their favorite character on the show. Of-course this is TV and people in it are characters, they are written to be that way.

All these stupid shows apart, TV still airs shows that make you laugh heartily to shows that make you speculate. A Little of right sense, little of right thought and little of viewer discretion is all that is need to make the idiot box as an entertainment box.

Life.. Its a puzzle

It was past midnight and his eyes had become moist due to long day at work."Its almost late, I still have to complete the pair. But.. Ahh.. she looks so beautiful, my bundle of joy", thought God. "Its time for you to go home and lead a happy life. Don't worry about problems, He is coming after you, He will make you strong..", God gently whispered in Her ears and sent Her home.

An year later, God created another bundle of joy and sent Him home.

6 years later....
He was returning home from school one evening, happy as ever to see his family, face full of smile, little did he expect, things were about to change that night. He got up in the middle of the night crying, something unexplainable was happening to him, He was withering and everyone around him looked so upset....

God looked down from above and thought, "He requires someone to take care of him so dearly.. but who would that be?". He looked around the earth to find a perfect match for him. Then he came across Her. "Ahh.. there she is! my favourite one", he gleamed. "Hmm.. But how do I get him to meet her?","Yes! Now I know how..", God smiled.

She had been a brilliant student since childhood, did her best in her school and at home. Her parents wanted to give her best of education. So they decided to put her in one of the best schools. Instead of putting her into the grade she actually belonged, they put her into an year lower grade class. She could not really understand why her parents did something like that. "Am I a bad student.. ", She thought.

10 years later.....
He was academically not good since childhood. He managed to get through classes though. It was the first ever milestone he would have to cross in his education that year. "I must do my best this year, I have to get an admit in the most reputed college this year", He thought.

As he had thought, He had done brilliantly in his exams, that earned him an admit in one of the best colleges. What he never knew, she was there too...

On a fine day at college, he had arrived as usual to class. Seated at the back of the class, he was making paper planes and aiming at his fellow classmates esp. girls. One such arrow landed on her desk, she turned back to see who that was.. It was then He had noticed her for the first time. "There is something about her..", He thought.

2 years later.....
Looking from above God thought, "My plan was so brilliant but why didn't it work..."

She was with her friend one evening, when her friend noticed some familiar faces. Her friend invited them for a cup of coffee. It was then she noticed about him. "He is funny", she thought. "She looks so beautiful, there is something about her", He smiled.

3 years later.....
They hardly knew each other, spoke or met on very rare occasions. She met him at wedding after few years. He was so charming and funny. She could not stop smiling looking at him. Something about him she is was attracted too. It was strange but she could not stop thinking that she wanted to spend her life with him...

6 months later......
"I miss her. I have always missed her. I want to be with her. But what if she does not want to", He thought. He was going to take the biggest chance in his life. He did not want to give away without even trying. He called her out on a date hesitantly, to his surprise she agreed. "But how am I going to tell her", He wondered.

He met her that evening for coffee. "Gosh!..She looks so beautiful". They spent sometime talking and laughing about things. As time was ticking away he could no longer wait.. He smiled at her and asked "Will you marry me??"

To be continued...

Height... It all matters

When in Germany, as a part of Friday evening recreation, I used to go to wine market with my German girlfriends. I must say German girls are really really tall, I guess average height of a woman there should be around 6 feet. Mind you average height of Indian men is not even that close :). Well, My first visit to the wine market is worth a tale.

On particular evening, my friend and I reached the wine market after a hard day at work. The wine market was not that big, not crowded, it was put up on park kind of place, lots of stalls sold homemade food. This was during my early days and I had not idea about German food or drinks. My friend suggested me to try something German which I gladly accepted. I helped myself with mushroom gravy kind of dish and my friend had bread and cheese. We stood there in the market for about an hour talking and eating. We didn't even realize during this period the crowd in the market started growing. It was a small place and there were too many people. My friend suddenly realized that she had plans to meet her husband at that place but she was not sure where he was. We had to move through the crowd slowly to a less crowded area. We started to panic as it was too difficult to even move.

My Friend (Panicking): Can you see my husband somewhere? I am worried.

I am a 5 footer and I was completely engulfed by 6 footers. People were standing around me like walls. I could barely breath or see anyone's face.
Me (With a funny tone): Can please tell me where you are standing. If I can spot you then its just a piece of cake for me to spot your husband.

My Friend: I am just behind you.

We had a hearty laugh and proceeded through the crowd.
See people say height does not matter. Well, it does in some countries!

Its not all about a Name

I was living in a foreign land for almost an year. It was place where you cannot speak the country's language. Culture completely different from yours. Yet I love the way people in the country are.

During my initial days in Germany, One evening I was returning home from work. I got down from a bus to catch the next bus that took me home. You know in India we are taught from school that you first look right and then left, then again right before you cross the road. That was exactly what I was going to do. As the bus stood at its place waiting for passengers to board it, I stood right in front of the bus, slightly peaking to see the road to see if there any vehicles right behind the bus. As I did this, there was not so tall, slightly old, plump person watching me from behind.

Old guy: What are you doing? (Mind you he was a German and his English was not that impressive)
Me: I am trying to cross the road.
Old guy: Here in Germany you don't have look so much to cross the road. When you cross the vehicles stop.
As he was telling me this he quickly moved to my left. Yet I was scared and crossed cautiously. He said..
Old guy: Dont worry nothing would happen to you as long as I am on this side.
And we crossed the road and he waved goodbye saying.. Until tomorrow.

For that day onwards, whenever he came in the same bus as I did, he would always cross road with me and always to my left. I don't know his name, what he does or from where he gets into the bus. Yet his small gesture has made such a hugh difference in my life. You just don't need to know a person or his/her name to make a difference in their life. Just a small gesture is sufficient.
